Is There Hope In The Future For Frogs?

In order to save the frog population from further decline, the general public must continue to exercise their right to vote to keep our environment safe. There are environmental laws set in place and it is important to make sure that our local policy makers do not change these laws for their own personal profit from money or a seat in government. By reading various different news sources to know both sides of the story and making an informed decision is key to keeping unwanted corporations and businesses from destroying natural resources which species and humans need to survive.

Such laws that we must become familiar with are National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (1969), The Clean Air Act (1970), The Clean Water Act (1972), The Endangered Species Act (1973), and The Superfund Act (1980). All of these Acts are key to making sure those are accountable for their negligence by harming the environment and by making sure corporations are making decisions that are positive for the environment. Sometimes corporations find loop holes to try and get away from being held responsible, but that is where the general public must step up and not allow these sneaky habits from continuing.

There are really no benefits for the general public to continue to allow corporations to continue to buy their way out of accountability. For example, a company wants to mine in your local community. Sure it seems great that jobs will be created for a short period of time, but at what cost. The long term health effects that the workers will contract will last the rest of their lifetime, if not shorten their life expectancy because the work conditions have caused cancer in the lungs or other organs in the body. Once the company makes their millions in profits, the worker no longer has health insurance and can no longer care for their condition or family. Most times our natural resources are destroyed and our local water is heavily polluted to where it is no longer consumable. Animals die because their habitat has been taken way or the pollutants in the air harm their lungs.

We must think about long term effects and base our decisions on other areas of the country that have suffered and lost family members. Keep in mind those who have lost their homes, pets and livestock. Those people have proven to us how the way of life will be if we allow mining, fracking, or other process to take over our community. None of their stories have a fairy-tale ending.

It is such a downward spiral and it will continue unless we make our voices heard and demand changes. The frogs have no voice and we must speak for them. We must keep our water clean and to make sure we vote for policy makers that will make positive changes for the people and not for the benefit of their own bank accounts.

     Help save the frogs today!!!!
